Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about Curltine — hair scans, product checks, subscriptions, and your account.
Getting Started
Curltine is an AI-powered curly hair care app. Take a photo of your hair to get your curl type, porosity, density, and a personalized wash-day routine. You can also scan product labels to check if ingredients suit your hair profile.
Open the Scan tab, take a clear photo of your hair in natural light, and submit it. Our AI analyzes texture, pattern, and visible health signals to generate a report with curl type (2A–4C), porosity, density, frizz level, and care recommendations.
Yes. You can create an account, complete onboarding, and run limited hair and product scans on the free plan. Premium unlocks higher scan limits and full access to advanced features.
Hair Scans
Our model estimates curl pattern, porosity, and density from your photo. Results are a strong starting point for building a routine, but they are not a clinical diagnosis. For best accuracy, scan in even lighting with hair down and product-free when possible.
We recommend scanning every 4–8 weeks, or after a major change — a new cut, color treatment, or noticeable shift in health — so your routine stays aligned with your current hair.
Free accounts include a limited number of hair and product scans per period. Premium plans (weekly, monthly, or annual) include higher limits so you can scan more often and track progress over time. Limits reset automatically based on your plan.
Product Scans
Photograph a product's ingredient list. Curltine reads the label and compares ingredients against your hair profile, flagging silicones, sulfates, drying alcohols, and other common concerns for curly hair.
We focus on ingredient compatibility with your profile, not brand partnerships. A product rated "good" for you is based on its formula relative to your porosity, curl type, and stated goals — not paid promotion.
Premium & Billing

Subscriptions are managed by Apple (iOS). Open Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone, select Curltine, and tap Cancel. You keep Premium access until the end of the current billing period.

Troubleshooting
This usually means the app couldn't reach our servers. Check your internet connection, force-quit and reopen the app, or log out and back in. Make sure you're on the latest app version from the App Store.
Use a stable Wi‑Fi or cellular connection, keep the photo under 10 MB, and avoid blurry or very dark images. If the error persists, wait a minute and try again — our AI service may be briefly busy.
Email us at [email protected] or use the Contact Support option in the app Profile screen. Include your account email and a short description of the issue so we can help faster.
